Chicago, IL – The Illinois Student Invention Convention (ISIC) honored the top young inventors from across the state at our annual Celebration, Showcase, and Awards Ceremony on May 3, 2025 at the South Side YMCA in Chicago. We recognized 76 standout student winners, selected from 243 students who participated in the statewide judging competition, from a remarkable group of over 6,000 who took part in ISIC during the 2024–2025 school year. The Celebration event featured an awards ceremony with remarks from Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle, a student invention showcase, and interactive STEM activity stations and innovative workshops sponsored by ISIC partners. During the awards ceremony, 29 students were selected to represent Illinois and compete at Invention Convention Worldwide’s U.S. Nationals.
In June, these National finalists traveled to The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, to compete at Invention Convention Worldwide’s National competition. There, they joined 490 K–12 inventors from across the country, attended workshops, networked with fellow innovators, and even pitched their inventions to producers from Shark Tank.
Since its inception in 2012, the ISIC program has served over 35,000 students, with participation growing from 4,500 last year to 6,000 this year.
Below are the winners who were honored at the awards ceremony.
